It’s the end of March, and today seems to be a good day to end my discussion of the Naturalistic intelligence.
There’s a lot of debate about this intelligence. However, I believe it is an important component.
To encourage the DHH child to develop his/her naturalistic intelligence, you should go on field trips with your child. Show [...]

Okay. As I said before, multiple intelligences exist in all of us. Each one of us possess them in different ways.
Today, I’m going to talk about the newest one, called Naturalistic. I feel that for DHH people, this is an important intelligence mode that you should be looking for, in helping a DHH child.
Basically, Naturalistic means you have [...]
So Late At Night

Okay, it’s pretty late at night now. I had a hard time getting to my computer today.
I promised that I would explain the multiple intelligences theory.
For starters, have you ever noticed how you or others excelled in certain things throughout life? For example, I do well at writing and composing. My husband is quite good at mathematics, [...]

I said in my last blog I’d discuss MI theory.
As I said before, there are eight intelligences, as proposed by Professor Howard Gardner of Harvard University. There are also additional ones being proposed, but they are under debate at this time.
I’m going to list them briefly, and then I’ll discuss each one in future separate postings.
The [...]

What’s the number one rule for living life successfully with a hearing loss?
You need to have your eyes checked. Frequently. At least once a year.
Why? Because we dearly need to depend on our eyes. Like, to lipread. To read books. To look at rich media, such as the Internet and TV. To read ASL. To communicate in any way possible, since [...]

Posted in DHH mothers with hearing children, hearing loss, parents of children with hearing problems on March 7, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
For the next several postings in this blog, I’m going to explain the theory of multiple intelligences, and how it affects hearing-impaired people.
The theory of multiple intelligences was proposed by Professor Howard Gardner of Harvard University in 1983. The idea is that we all possess eight different types of multiple intelligences, amazing as it sounds.
I will cover [...]
A Cochlear Implant Is NOT A Miracle Event

I’ve had many, many hearing people come to me and ask about cochlear implants. They seem to think it will restore hearing 100% easily and perfectly to the hearing-impaired population.
Nope. Nada. Wrong. Sorry to pop your balloon.
If that was true, I’d be the first in line to get a cochlear implant.
If it worked that well, would [...]
